I have been writing Christian music for a few years now. While I don’t consider myself a traditional writer, I simply roll with the inspiration God provides. When a moment strikes, I sing my heart out on a subject and record the words as they flow. Often, an entire song’s lyrics will come to me all at once, requiring little to no editing. Simply put, if my heart isn’t in it, I can’t write it.

My process usually begins by waiting for an encounter with God’s love while reading the Bible. I let His love for a situation or for others pour out through my music and lyrics. Sometimes, He will highlight specific scriptures, and I will build a song around them using a wonderful, copyright-free version of the Bible called the World English Bible (WEB). The melodies come either before or after the words.

As a lyricist, singer and melody writer, I focus on the heart of the song, I on occasion use Apple GarageBand to layer instrumental harmonies to create the music & for depth, while also bypassing this processes & utilizing the latest production technology to clone my voice (as I have no professional music recording set up ay my disposal) to help in creating the instrumental polished original tracks and covers.

Throughout my songwriting journey, I have unfortunately found very little encouragement or help along the way. If you have experienced this too, I want to encourage you: do not let a lack of support stop you from doing what you feel called to do to glorify the Kingdom of God.I would loved to have had the option of a band to back up my song writing, or to collaborate with me, but it ever came. But I found my own way of working and of even creating and illustrating my own music videos too. If you feel led to create music you can with as little as a mobile phone or ipad and shear grit and determination.
